South Jersey NOW-Alice Paul chapter is a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving equality for women. We engage in a wide array of projects and actions to achieve that goal. In November 2021, the chapter celebrates its 50th anniversary. The following are some of the projects and actions we undertook during those 50 years:

  • Produced and distributed a newsletter and held a program meeting every month
  • Organized and joined countless demonstrations, marches and actions at the local and state levels, and joined national marches in Washington
  • Educated and activated the public on hundreds of issues ranging from spirituality to sexual harassment
  • Presented workshops at National NOW conferences
  • Supported women candidates through ALICE’s List
  • Members have run for and been elected to public office
  • Elected over 50 chapter presidents and empowered untold numbers of women who discovered skills they didn’t know they had as a result of chapter involvement
  • Created a support group for separated and divorced women in response to thousands of phone calls to the chapter phone requesting help
  • Participated in local productions of The Vagina Monologues
  • Testified in favor of paid family leave in New Jersey
